The Keeper Of Everything

I am finally getting into a position to buy a small house which means I need to get a handle on all the crap in this place!!  If you've been reading my blog for any length of time, you know I am constantly in a state of organization.  But when you still have boxes unopened from 2 houses ago, its time to take control of the situation.

Organizational gurus say if you haven't opened a box in 5 yrs (?!?!), do you really need it?  Toss it!!  I can't do that.  That unopened box could hold a bag of yarn I forgot about.  Or fabric.  Or that mug my mom used and now I cant find.

When the guys were here this past wknd, dvds, cds and other stuff were gone thru.  They took what they wanted.  I will box up some of #1 Son's stuff (mostly from school), but as far as I'm concerned, the rest of the stuff is mine to do with as I chose.

Oy.

So.

These boxes have been gone thru.

I'm going thru boxes to see what I want to keep and what I want to get rid of.  I ask myself, "Do I…

For Today
Looking out my window...right now it's raining

I am thinking... how I need to slow down. So far in 2018 we have been to TX in Jan, Palm Coast in Feb, and NC in March.  Plus we just had #1 Son and the IO stay this wknd.   It's been a ride and I need to get off for a bit.
I am thankful...for my Baby Girl.  She is my travel partner.  She is a kind soul.  She tells her dad like it is!
I am wearing... a grey t-shirt nightgown with a coffee design on it.

I am creating...since we've been traveling so much, my scarf has come out to play, but not much has been done on it, maybe a few more rows.  I'm really sick of the tans and golds and want to get to the main colors that I love.
HOWEVER, my 13 y/o nephew still wants me to make him some socks.  I brought it up when we were in NC and I gave him an out if he didnt want them.  Told him I didnt want to be *that aunt* that makes things nobody wants to wear.  He still wants them.  Made me all warm and fuzzy.
I am watching...re…

For Today
Looking out my window... it was surprisingly chilly for us today.  It never got out of the 60s with a cold wind all day.  Last week we were 87.  Today I needed a jacket all day.  This may sound nuts to most of you, but if you've ever lived in the south, esp Florida, it's not unusual to start the day with the heat and by 3 needing the a/c on.  Trust me, I'm not complaining, it was just a surprise.
I am thinking... how much I really like these daybook entries.  I've started this post a few times now, but my thoughts were all over the map.  The daybook helps me to focus on just one topic at a time.
I am thankful...for my health.  Just had a physical today, and other than the dreaded word "arthritis", I'm in good shape.  All my numbers are where they are supposed to be.  Except what the scale says.  That is my only problem.  And the dr doesnt want to say too much abt it since everything else is good.  I am 51 and at this point it can go either way.

The Latest Trend

Image
I am SOOO not trendy.  Nor do I post things that are trending.  I like what I like and it's usually out of style.

Back in the day I loved taking pictures (still do) and keeping my photo albums current.  I would add receipts and dates of events.   I would also add little notes or cut out pics to make it more interesting.  I even cut up stationery or wrapping paper to add to the pic.  This was all before scrap booking became popular.

When all the special photo albums and papers became popular, I should have been excited.  I wasn't.  It all seemed so overwhelming.  BUT all my mom friends were very much into scrap booking and *you have to do it too!*   Which is why when #1 Son started kindergarten, I stopped putting pictures in albums and started saving them for scrap booking.  I actually got his kindergarten one done and he LOVED it!  He went thru that thing all the time.  He wore out 3 books!  When I told my scrap booking mom friends how much #1 Son loved his book, they were ho…

So what's going on here at Casa del Apartamente??  Too much!   But who cares?  No one is dead, no one is in jail.  It's a good day!!!

The best things abt that statement above are the reactions I get from ppl.  Some laugh at my joke, others freak out a bit and say, well I hope not!  And then there are the ones that relate and say Ain't that the truth.  Cracks me up every time.

It's a cloudy day here in Central Florida, another front is going thru and I have poor lighting.  So THAT is when I decide to take pictures to post.  Because why not??

What's on the needles? My Caledonia.

Untouched from the last posting.  It will officially be finished by next winter.  Which means it will be mild and I *might* have a day or two of wearing it here.  Hopefully when we go to NC it will be chillier.

The good thing abt knowing it wont be done this year means I can cast on for a pair of socks.  Havent made any in awhile (because of my focus on the unending story that is that project…

But I Only Blinked!!!!

I use 4 calendars.  All 4 of them tell me today is the last day of January.
They all lie.
How is it possible that Jan is over??  Time moves too fast.  I've tried making less plans, but that only makes the days longer, not the years.  The month was filled with a trip to Texas,

THREE plays,

We also saw The Fox on the Fairway, but those shows were dress rehearsals and volunteering.  We see the show again in a couple of weeks (yes, another February event!)
Baby Girl turning 16,

and a visit with the inlaws.

I'm also getting crosstrained at work which is putting me behind on the rest of my work, but that's a whole nuther therapy session.
February is shaping up to being just as nuts.  We've got a destination wedding coming up, another play (see above), and a quilt show.  In between all of this I have to work longer days, fit in shopping for the wedding, and try to find some quiet time to keep my sanity.
I truly thought once children's theatre and marching band was ov…

That's Right, It IS A New Year!

In the past I would reflect on what I've knit, stitched, read.  I've gotten out of the habit of that.  Now that I'm trying to get some kind of routine for ME back in place, it made me look back at what I've read, stitched and knit.

And that would be a yes to some and no to others.

2017 was another year of changes.  Lots of endings and beginnings.

MY address didnt change, but it did for my son.  He moved to Texas.

Theatre had changes as well.  The director that we all loved decided to resign.  It was a very emotional situation.  The new director is great, but she's different.  Bugsy Malone Jr performances were back in March of 2016.  This show was the first show with the new director, and for many it was the last show in the program.

Some aged out, others just missed the old director.  Baby Girl did one more show, but has since moved on.  She has done two more plays since, but is taking a break for now.

Not participating in theatre has no slowed down our ticke…
